We are all, of course, one of a kind. We each lead a unique and – in our own way – special life. So wouldn’t it be wonderful to say farewell to a loved one in a unique and special way.
When a loved one passes, it can be difficult for a family to think clearly about how you would like the funeral to be, for this special and unique person.
Love is at the heart of every celebrant-led funeral service and you will want to express that love in your own way – whether it is as a celebration of a life that has been, or a quiet, almost spiritual honouring and acknowledgement of a loss – or even both of these aspects.
My role, as a Celebrant, is to be alongside you at this time – to sit with you and talk about your wishes and perhaps, the wishes of the deceased, if these have been previously outlined. Together, you and I can weave a story of the life of the deceased and commemorate their unique and memorable life and the way it was significant to their family and community.
My responsibility is to then bring these elements together and craft them into a Ceremony that will be meaningful for you and the family, as well as having meaning for the deceased.
The healing process begins. A time of closeness, where family and friends can gather for a simple, heartfelt ceremony in a special or meaningful place - somewhere that may hold sentimental value.
In some cultures, the scattering of ashes symbolises setting the soul or spirit free - as you release the ashes, you are letting the spirit go...
A service to celebrate your loved one's life and the joy they brought to others. An opportunity to honour and pay tribute to them in your own unique way - your choice of words, your choice of music, your choice of venue...Your ceremony.
